MDwise Overview
MDwise believes that everyone deserves to have health coverage. It is necessary to get regular check-ups to stay healthy and to get treatment for illness, injury and disease. MDwise is a health care provider for Hoosier Healthwise, Indiana Care Select, and Healthy Indiana Plan. We provide the best care, because we care to everyone who qualifies for our health plans.
Hoosier Healthwise (approximately 270,000 members)
This plan provides health coverage for children of low-income children, pregnant women and eligible families. The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is part of Hoosier Healthwise. The level of coverage available to members depends on which Hoosier Healthwise benefit package they qualify for. Eligibility is based on the number of family members and household income. Hoosier Healthwise members select a primary medical provider who works with them to manage their care.
Indiana Care Select (approximately 34,000 members)
MDwise is a Care Management Organization for the Indiana Care Select Program. The Indiana Care Select Program is designed by the State of Indiana to personalize and enhance the care provided by addressing the member’s needs holistically and by seeking input from medical providers, behavioral health experts, family members and other care givers. This approach includes comprehensive care coordination for all members identified by the State for inclusion in Care Select. Through increased coordination across health care services and providers, the program aims to increase the quality of care and better manage program costs. The Care Select program covers the aged, blind, physically & mentally disabled, home & community based waivers, adoptive services, M.E.D. Works participants, Out-of-home (wards) and foster children.
Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) (approximately 13,000 members)
MDwise provides a full scope of health coverage to low income, uninsured Hoosiers, ages 19-64. The Healthy Indiana Plan is designed by the State of Indiana to offer a basic health insurance benefit plan, subject to individual contributions, and paired with a personal health account referred to as a Power Account to Hoosiers without access to employer sponsored health insurance. The Program is designed to foster personal responsibility and promote preventive care and healthy lifestyles while encouraging participants to be value conscious consumers of health care.
