Employer Contributions
HIP is sponsored by the State of Indiana and offers a basic health insurance benefit plan, subject to individual contributions and paired with a personal health account referred to as a POWER Account to Hoosiers without access to employer sponsored health insurance.
Small businesses that do not currently offer health insurance to their employees have an opportunity to assist their eligible employees to participate in the program by paying a portion of enrolled employees’ monthly contribution to their POWER Account.
If your employee is a member of the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), you can contribute up to 50% of the required annual contribution amount to his or her POWER account.

What is the cost to you as an employer?

Your employee pays a portion of his or her POWER account, and the remainder is funded by the State of Indiana. His or her portion is determined by the State based on income and certain eligible expenses. You, the employer, may pay any amount of the member’s portion up to 50%.

Employer contributions may be paid monthly or annually. Talk to your employee about the contribution amount.

Payment options for employers include check, money order, automatic payroll deduction, unlimited electronic check or debit card payments via phone, automatic draft withdrawal from designated account, automated clearinghouse, electronic funds transfer (EFT), and online payment system (WISEpay): https://mdwise.ebillonline.biz/.
