Rides to Your Doctor "Package A & B"

What's Covered for Package A & B?

MDwise covers transportation to doctor appointments for Package A and B members. You should call MDwise to arrange a ride the same day you call for your doctor’s appointment.

MDwise covers 20 one-way rides to doctor visits per year. You should save your trips for when you cannot get a ride any other way. MDwise does not cover trips to the pharmacy.

Don’t forget to call for your ride as soon as you set up your doctor’s appointment. If you cancel or change your appointment, call MDwise right away to cancel or change your ride.

Bus Passes for Package A & B

If available in your area, MDwise may give you a bus pass for your trip to the doctor. A bus pass counts as two trips towards your trip limit. If there are any extra trips on the pass, they can be used to go to the pharmacy or other important appointments.

Emergencies for Package A & B

You should only take an ambulance when it is a true emergency. See page 14 of the Member Handbook for examples of emergencies. If you think your problem could cause lasting harm or loss of life, call 911.

Rides to Your Doctor "Package C"

Emergencies Only for Package C

Package C members can get ambulance transportation for true emergencies only, at a reduced price. The co-pay for each ambulance trip is $10.00.

You should only call an ambulance for your child when it is a true emergency. If you think your child’s problem could cause lasting harm or loss of life, call 911.

Tips for Package C:

Since Package C members are not covered for non-emergency transportation, here are some other ideas for getting a ride:

  • Ask a family member or friend to take you.

  • Find a bus route or other public transportation to take you.

  • Remember, you must pay for these types of transportation. They are not covered by MDwise.
