MDwise brings interactive exercise program to Hoosier kids during July

Kids across central Indiana are invited to learn fun, new ways to get active and healthy this summer. MDwise, a statewide managed health care organization, is bringing Radio Disney's "Move It!" program – an upbeat, kid-friendly exercise presentation aimed at curbing childhood obesity – to central Indiana kids at various locations in July and August.

"Childhood obesity is a growing problem, and MDwise is taking an active role to address this issue among Hoosier kids," said Jamie Bruce, chief development and marketing officer for MDwise. "The 'Move It!' program is a great initiative that engages kids with fun, interactive activities to get them excited about being active and healthy."

Themed "Get Off Your Seat and On Your Feet," the "Move It!" program helps kids identify physical activities they enjoy doing, whether it’s dancing, skateboarding, rollerblading or just playing a game of tag with friends. MDwise and Radio Disney are working with Indy Parks to offer the program at the following Indianapolis sites:

  • July 8, 1-2pm | Dr. MLK Jr. Park – 1702 Broadway St.

  • July 12, 1-2pm | Broad Ripple Park – 1550 Broad Ripple Ave.

  • July 15, 1-2pm | Riverwood Park – 7201 Crittendon Ave.

  • July 20, 1-2pm | Garfield Park – 2345 Pagoda Dr.

  • July 30, 10-11am | Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center – 2990 West 71st St.

  • Aug 14, 1-2pm | Bethel Park Pool – 2945 E. Minnesota St.

Space at the events is limited and kids will be able to participate on a first-come, first-served basis. The program will also make stops at the Keenan-Stahl Boys & Girls Club on July 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. for kids who are enrolled in this organization.
