MDwise Helps Hoosier Families with School Supply Giveaways During COVID-19 Pandemic

7/16/2020

During a global pandemic, the last thing Hoosier families should worry about is affording the cost of school supplies. For that reason, MDwise is donating 3,000 bags with school supplies to students statewide through mid-August. Even with the challenges of distribution due to COVID-19 this year, MDwise outreach representatives are working with community organizations and schools to get these important supplies to students in new ways, including drive-thru events.

Tools for Schools is a program that MDwise has offered for 11 years and is part of Ms. Bluebelle’s Club for Kids, a MDwise program that promotes the well-being of Hoosier children through activities and outreach.

“We recognize that there are more obstacles than ever before for families looking to prepare for the beginning of the 2020 school year,” said Jessica Cromer, President and CEO. “School supplies aren’t always easily accessible to all students but are critical for educational success. This program helps ensure young Hoosier students have the tools they need to thrive and grow in school whether at home or in the classroom.”

Children are expected to spend more than 1,200 hours in school or online working on homework or learning curriculum. MDwise strives to make these learning experiences as meaningful and constructive as possible by ensuring students have the tools they need to learn.

“Playing a part in ensuring students have every chance to be successful both in the classroom and online is rewarding to us. We are actively looking for opportunities to continue aiding Hoosier families during the COVID-19 crisis and look forward to expanding the list of organizations we partner with in future years,” added Cromer.
