Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day is a national initiative created by Tom Joyner.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – September 9, 2010
MDwise teamed up with Radio One – WTLC 106.7 FM to sponsor the Take A Loved One season of April – September 2010. On August 21, 2010 MDwise held one of two health screening and check-up events at Forest Manor Health Center, 3840 N. Sherman Drive, Indianapolis. Radio One promoted the event prior to the event and was on site to promote the event.

There were a variety of screenings and services available to attendees including: blood pressure, weight/BMI, INR checks, glucose and immunizations. A licensed physician was present during part of the event to provide consultation. “I believe MDwise pulled off a miracle with this event,” stated Kenneth Bond, Vice President of Ambulatory Care at Wishard. Out of the 68 screenings that were done at the event, a few people were identified as having high blood pressure, high blood sugar, etc. and some were even referred to the Emergency Room. Three people made appointments to see the center’s doctor at a future date. “It was well worth the five hours we were here for the community,” stated Barbara Sawyer, the Clinic Manager for Forest Manor. Covering Kids and Families was on site to take applications for Healthy Indiana Plan, Wishard Advantage and Hoosier Healthwise.
