City of East Chicago school’s receives $30,000 donation from MDwise

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – April 16, 2010
MDwise, an Indianapolis-based statewide managed health care organization, presented a $30,000 donation to School City of East Chicago Friday, April 16. MDwise provided the donation to the school district to help enhance student education and well-being.
The donation is part of “Tools for Schools,” a new MDwise program providing funding to nine Indiana schools in need, including schools in Gary, Indianapolis and Bloomington.
“MDwise is thrilled to give this very deserving school system some additional funds to help improve the educational experience of its students,” said Charlotte MacBeth, chief executive officer of MDwise. “We are a health-care focused company, and we know that getting a good education is a significant part of every child’s overall health and well-being.”
The school corporation will use the funding to strengthen the educational environment and make the classroom experience in its schools as successful as possible for students. MDwise worked with Indiana State Representative Earl Harris (district 2) to identify a school district in great need of assistance.
“MDwise has been a tremendous community partner for the City of East Chicago for a very long time, and this contribution to our school corporation is a testament to their commitment to helping our children be active, healthy and, most of all, focused on education. This is a great opportunity for our schools.”
