MDwise member receives scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS–MDwise recently nominated Indiana Wesleyan University student Aimee Mullikin for the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) tuition scholarship program. Mullikin received an honorable mention for her application and will receive $1,000 in tuition assistance this year. In addition, MDwise will match the ACAP scholarship by providing an additional $1,000 toward her educational expenses.

ACAP, a national trade association representing 57 nonprofit safety net health plans in 24 states, established the scholarship program to provide financial assistance to an enrollee or family member of an ACAP health plan member who is seeking higher education to pursue a career in health care or social services. The scholarship is awarded on the applicant’s quality of responses to essay questions, strength of applicant’s expression of interest in pursuing a career in the health care or social service sectors, and a letter of recommendation. This year, ACAP was able to extend scholarships to those applicants who received an honorable mention.

“We’re proud of Aimee for being selected for an ACAP scholarship honorable mention,” said Charlotte MacBeth, president and CEO of MDwise. “Our members’ quality of life is important to us, and being able to assist someone with their education brings me great joy. We look forward to seeing Aimee thrive as she progresses into her career.”

“Our panel of judges was highly impressed by the strength of the applicant pool, and we’re thrilled to be in the position to take the unusual step of providing an award to our deserving runners-up,” said Jeff Van Ness, senior director of communications for ACAP.
