MDwise selected by FSSA as a contractor for new Hoosier Care Connect program

INDIANAPOLIS–MDwise is one of three contractors selected by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) to provide coordinated health care services for aged, blind and disabled Medicaid enrollees. An estimated 84,000 individuals will qualify for the Hoosier Care Connect program, which is expected to begin April 1, 2015.

According to FSSA, enrollees will include children and adults eligible for Medicaid on the basis of age (65+), blindness or disability, who are not also enrolled in Medicare, do not reside in an institutional setting and are not enrolled in a home- and community-based services (HCBS) waiver.

MDwise has been serving a portion of the Hoosier Care Connect population through its Indiana Care Select program since 2008. In total, MDwise serves more than 300,000 Medicaid members in Indiana through its Indiana Care Select, Healthy Indiana Plan and Hoosier Healthwise programs.

“MDwise is honored to have been chosen to continue serving Indiana’s most vulnerable residents through this new program and will be working with the State over the next several months to implement the program,” said Charlotte MacBeth, president and CEO of MDwise. “As a 20-year veteran provider of health insurance for our most needy Hoosiers, MDwise is well positioned to keep the continuum of care going in our communities.”

All qualifying enrollees will be notified in early 2015 about Hoosier Care Connect, which aims to promote preventive and comprehensive care, including the physical, behavioral, medical and social needs of its members.
