MDwise is second health plan in America to receive National Case Management Accreditation

6/15/2015

INDIANAPOLIS – MDwise recently earned the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) highest accreditation status for service and quality in case management for its Medicaid health plans Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan.

Typically awarded to case management companies, MDwise is one of only two health plan providers to have earned the prestigious Case Management Accreditation honor.

An Indiana nonprofit health care company focused exclusively on caring for the state’s most underserved citizens, MDwise prides itself on offering quality health care coverage and unrivaled customer service for its members. In the Medicaid Insurance Plan Rankings 2014–15, MDwise received an impressive overall ranking of 28 out of 136 Medicaid plans in the nation. MDwise has achieved the top position in Indiana four out of the last five years – as well as earned this accreditation.

“It’s gratifying to know that our members recognize and appreciate our high quality health care services and are confident in our ability to assist with their needs,” said Katherine Wentworth, Interim President and CEO of MDwise.

Earning NCQA’s Case Management Accreditation is an indication that a Case Management program is dedicated to care coordination, patient-centeredness and improving quality of care. The standards are set high to encourage Case Management organizations to continuously enhance the quality or services they deliver. NCQA’s Case Management Accreditation is the only program that focuses on care transition.

“Case Management Accreditation moves us closer to measuring quality across population health management initiatives,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, president, NCQA. “Not only does it add value to existing quality improvement efforts, it also demonstrates an organization’s commitment to the highest degree of improving the quality of their patients’ care.”
