MDwise partners with nonprofit to bring message of resiliency to South Bend

In an effort to bring awareness to April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, MDwise is partnering with the Family & Children’s Center in South Bend to host An Evening with Elizabeth Smart on April 11.
The victim of a highly publicized abduction in 2002, Smart will share her story of resiliency, hope and recovery. She was held prisoner for a grueling nine months, with her captors threatening to kill her and her family if she tried to escape. Fortunately, the police returned her to her family.
“Sadly, child abuse cases in Indiana have doubled in the last decade, according to the most recent reports available from the Indiana Department of Child Services,” said Hollie Arruda, director of marketing at MDwise. “MDwise wanted to get involved in this event to highlight the problem, but also to put a spotlight on resiliency and the strength required to overcome.”
WHAT:  An Evening with Elizabeth Smart to bring awareness to child abuse
WHEN:  April 11, 6 p.m.
WHERE:  Century Center, 120 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., South Bend
Unfortunately, the event is already sold out.
