Learning specialized skills, earning a career certificate and professional development will set you apart and help you get the job you want.

Participating in the following education and learning activities can help you earn hours towards Gateway to Work:
  • Adult education (General Education Diploma/High School Equivalency).
    • Preparing to take the High School Equivalency test.
    • Attending educational classes beyond high school.
    • Attending other general education classes or training from a not-for-profit, public institution or Gateway to Work partner.
  • General education.
    • This includes taking budgeting, computer skills, gardening or cooking classes.
  • College level courses.
  • Job skills training.
  • Vocational education or training.
  • English as a Second Language education.

HELPlink
We want to help you succeed. You can find a listing of educational organizations in your area through the MDwise HELPlink program. These organizations can help you with your GED, HSE, career training, job training and more.
 
High School Equivalency Exam
We know that a high school education is a substantial factor in a your success. To help you successfully attain your high school equivalency degree (HSE), we will give eligible members a voucher to take the HSE exam for free. We will also allow you to retake the exam up to three times at no additional cost. To learn more about the HSE exam voucher, call MDwise customer service at 1-800-356-1204.
 
Career EDGE
Through a partnership with Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), MDwise members can complete a variety of modules centered around career success. This is a non-credit course that supports members in exploring their values, strengths and interests in relation to degrees and careers; develop an academic plan that connects them with careers; graduate with a solid plan for further professional goals; and be employed in a career they are passionate about.
