Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
What is PTSD?
PTSD stands for post-traumatic stress disorder. When people see or are a part of scary events they may feel more nervous or scared. Being abused or being in a tornado are some things that can lead to PTSD.
If you are an adult, you may feel or experience these things:
- More anger
- Not wanting to do things you used to like
- More nervous or scared
- Bad dreams
- Memories that bother you
- Trouble sleeping or eating
If you are a parent of a child who may have PTSD, you may see in your child:
- Nightmares
- More fear
- More anger
- Trouble sleeping
- Acting out the scary event in play
