Bruce Hayes - President and CEO

President and CEO – Bruce Hayes, CPA

Mr. Hayes served as MDwise chief financial officer before being appointed president and CEO in July 2018. In this role, he provides corporate leadership, directs business operations, sets current and long-range objectives, plans strategic goals, designs policies and works closely with the executive team to lead the company to achieve overall corporate goals.
 
Mr. Hayes has more than 20 years of experience in health care financial management, leadership and strategy development. Most recently, he served as the vice president of integration management/value capture for Anthem where he was the lead financial officer for a $50 billion health care merger. Previous roles with Anthem included chief financial officer for national accounts/exchanges serving several million customers across 14 states; vice president financial planning & analysis leading the financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis across all of Anthem’s operations; and chief financial officer of operations, technology, and government services.
 
Mr. Hayes holds a Bachelor of Science in finance and risk management from Ball State University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) from the Indiana CPA Society.

Vice President, General Counsel – Patricia Hebenstreit, JD

Ms. Hebenstreit joined MDwise as vice president and general counsel in January of 2009. Ms. Hebenstreit has a wealth of health law and legal related knowledge and experience. She directs and coordinates MDwise's efforts to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and policies that govern its Medicaid and Health Insurance Marketplace business. Ms. Hebenstreit is also responsible for directing the government affairs staff/activities. She directs a special investigations unit (SIU) that performs program integrity activities for all MDwise programs. Ms. Hebenstreit also oversees marketing and outreach for all MDwise programs and the MDwise brand.

Ms. Hebenstreit previously worked at the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County where she spent almost six years as chief of staff and two years as general counsel. Prior to that, she spent time as the director of long term care at OMPP and also as director of the medicaid fraud control unit at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. Ms. Hebenstreit serves on the board of directors of Safe Sitter, Inc. and the executive committee of the Indianapolis Bar Association Health and Life Sciences Committee. Ms. Hebenstreit obtained her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis and her B.A. in political science from Marquette University.

Vice President, Operations – Lindsey Lux, MHA, SPHR

Ms. Lux joined MDwise in March of 2005 and has served many roles during her time at MDwise. As vice president of operations, she leads the operation departments of MDwise. She oversees Medicaid customer service, provider relations, reporting, project management office, program operations and quality departments.

Ms. Lux has more than 19 years of experience working with Indiana Medicaid programs. Lindsey began at MDwise managing state reporting requirements before adding human resources and organizational management. Lindsey then assumed operational departments for customer service, the project management office and provider relations. Prior to joining MDwise, Lindsey served as the benefit advocate supervisor at AmeriChoice, a United Healthcare company serving as the Medicaid Enrollment Broker for the State of Indiana, where she was responsible for developing integration strategies, promoting community partnerships and enrollment center training.

Ms. Lux obtained her Bachelor of Science in public health and her master's in health administration from Indiana University. She holds two human resources certifications as a senior professional of human resources (SPHR) under the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and is also a Society of Human Resources Management senior certified professional (SHRM-SCP). Ms. Lux also holds certificates in project management and six sigma green belt. Ms. Lux serves on the committee for the Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County and routinely volunteers for the program. She also served on executive leadership team for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement. In 2017, she joined the board of directors for Covering Kids & Families of Indiana.

Vice President, Business Information – Brian Arrowood

Mr. Arrowood joined MDwise as vice president and chief information officer in November of 2015. He is responsible for leading and directing the internal information systems (IS) and information technology (IT) functions of MDwise. Mr. Arrowood holds a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in mathematics.
 
Mr. Arrowood has 20 years experience in management and leadership in the information systems and information technology fields. Prior to joining MDwise, Mr. Arrowood was responsible for operational risk management at Indiana University Health Revenue Cycle Services. Previous to IU Health, Mr. Arrowood held a cabinet-level position as chief information officer with the State of Indiana under Governor Mitch Daniels. While in his position at the State of Indiana, Mr. Arrowood won the Governor’s Service Award in 2009 and was recognized as one of the nation’s Premier 100 IT leaders in 2012 by Computerworld magazine.

Vice President, Health Services – Chris Callahan, PharmD

Mr. Callahan was named MDwise vice president of health services in 2018. In this role he leads all divisions of the health services teams, which include pharmacy, care management, medical utilization management and clinical behavioral health.
 
Mr. Callahan brought more than 20 years of organizational leadership and pharmacy experience to MDwise. He began at MDwise as director of pharmacy in 2014. He then assumed the roles of senior director of pharmacy and vice president of pharmacy and medical economics. Prior to working with MDwise, he served as manager outpatient pharmacy at Indiana University Health Arnett. In this role he was responsible for planning, developing and executing the opening and operation of the outpatient pharmacy system.
 
Mr. Callahan holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University. He is licensed by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy. He is an adjunct assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Purdue University College of Pharmacy and a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
