Welcome to MDwise!

MDwise is your local, Indiana-based nonprofit health care company. We were founded in 1994 to help vulnerable populations needing health coverage in Indiana. Our parent organization, McLaren Health Care, is a nonprofit integrated health system who believes all Indiana families should have access to high quality health care regardless of income. Our mission is to provide high quality health care. We only take care of families in Indiana. MDwise works with the State of Indiana and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to bring you the Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan health insurance programs.

MDwise has a large network of doctors, specialists and hospitals throughout the State of Indiana. We can help you make wise choices about your health, the health of your family and choosing a medical home. MDwise takes pride in providing Indiana families with quality and affordable health coverage for the whole family.

MDwise is accredited by a national organization that measures the quality of health care. It is called the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). MDwise was rated 3.5 out of 5 among health insurance plans in the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)’s Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Ratings for 2019-2020.

Hoosier Healthwise

A health plan for children under the age of 19 and pregnant women.

Hoosier Healthwise

Hoosier Healthwise is a Medicaid health care plan that serves children under the age of 19. The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is part of Hoosier Healthwise. The level of coverage available to members depends on which Hoosier Healthwise benefit package they qualify for. Eligibility is based on the number of family members and household income.

Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP)

A health plan for adults age 19 - 64.

Healthy Indiana Plan

The Healthy Indiana Plan is an affordable health insurance program that serves uninsured Hoosiers between the ages of 19–64 who are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare. This plan also includes pregnant women. Participants are required to make monthly contributions toward coverage.

Please note that MDwise, Inc. is still working with the State of Indiana and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to bring you the Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan health insurance programs.

What is 9-8-8?

9-8-8 is a direct, national line. It is to help people with all types of mental health crises. You can call, text or chat with someone at 9-8-8. In Indiana, the state will partner with up to five providers, including the three current National Suicide Prevention Lifeline call centers in the state, to answer contacts to 988.
