The American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile® (GKAS) program started as a grassroots effort to raise awareness nationally about the effect of oral health on overall health and about the staggering need that exists among millions of children who go without dental care. In 2003, it evolved into a nationwide program with the goal of providing free oral health care to children. GKAS ensures access to quality oral health care for all children and is an annual volunteer initiative. Thousands of dentists across the country take time from their practices to help children who aren’t receiving the oral health care they need.
